CHAMPS Mid-Level Management Training, April 25th, 26th, 27th, 2012

CHAMPS and NWRPCA are pleased to announce the launch of Critical Skills for Mid-Level Managers, a six-month hybrid training program specifically designed for mid-level (not executive-level) managers at community, migrant, and homeless health centers (CHCs).  Please consider which of your mid-level managers might most benefit from this valuable program - for CHCs, driven by CHCs.

A. OVERVIEW & LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Many of the CHC mid-level managers around the region, both those with years of experience and those new to their duties, have never been given training specific to their management duties.  This course will allow mid-level managers to successfully navigate the hiring, training, orientation, and management of staff while organizing their own workloads, and is designed to make sure that learning is implemented back in their work environment.  Participants will attend a kick-off face-to-face meeting in Denver, participate in ongoing learning and networking via webcasts, teleconferences, and discussion groups, work on a capstone project back in their home CHC, and attend a culminating face-to-face session at the Fall 2012 CHAMPS/NWRPCA Annual Conference in Denver.  Each registering manager will be asked to identify a mentor, who will help the participant model behavior, discuss approaches, and learn additional skills back in the home CHC.  Mentors will attend an interactive webinar to build coaching and support skills, and participate in ongoing virtual discussion.

Participants will be able to:

• Use behavioral interviewing techniques
• Implement retention strategies
• Understand key employment issues
• Apply time management techniques
• Understand essential elements of effective teams
• Implement accountability strategies

B. TIMELINE

• April 19, 2012: Webinar for Mentors (Noon-1:30PM Mountain Time)
• April 25-27, 2012: Face-to-Face Meeting for Managers (full days 25^th & 26^th, half day/morning of 27^th)
• June 38, 2012: Webinar for Managers (Noon-1:30PM Mountain Time)
• August 21, 2012: Webinar for Managers (Noon-1:30PM Mountain Time)
• May-October, 2012: Manager Capstone Project, Mentoring Sessions, Ongoing Virtual Support
• October 2012: Culminating Session at CHAMPS/NWRPCA Fall Conference (exact date TBD)
