MPCA Welcomes Shawna Morse!
Montana Primary Care Association (MPCA) welcomes our new staff member, Telecommunications Coordinator, Shawna Morse. A Montana native, Shawna is a 2004 graduate of Montana State University, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in marketing.
Morse's recently created position is the result of funding received by MPCA through the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) to advance the use of telecommunications by primary care providers statewide. As Telecommunications Coordinator, Morse will be strengthening partnerships with key healthcare entities, promoting and organizing distance learning activities, and providing technical assistance in the use of videoconferencing across Montana.
The first MPCA-sponsored televised educational course, "Coding for Clinicians," will be held September 24, 2004, at Deering Community Health Center (CHC), and broadcast via televideo to ten remote sites statewide. Bonnie Lewis, a regional expert from the Idaho-based coding education firm, Brown Consulting, will be providing the training for clinician/coder teams. Through Morse's coordination between Montana's many telecommunications sites, and as a result of new partnerships such as the one Morse has created with Eastern Montana Telemedicine Network (EMTN), over 60 participants are expected to increase their coding proficiency by attending the course in their home towns.
Education MPCA plans to offer in the upcoming year utilizing telecommunications includes Front Office Training and Risk Management for upper level administrative staff.
Shawna Morse can be reached at MPCA 406-442-2750 or smorse@mtpca.org.
