This 2-day, 8-hour, virtual-live workshop is designed for providers new to the field of addiction medicine in settings such as primary care, emergency care, and behavioral health, who see patients at risk for or with substance use disorders (SUDs).

Participants will be presented an overview of the basics of addiction medicine, which covers how to screen, diagnose, treat and/or refer patients with addiction, many of whom have co-occurring medical and psychiatric comorbidities.

The target audience for this introductory level activity includes: Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Behavioral Health Specialists. It is designed for those new to treating patients with addiction and for individuals who have had little or no addiction training.

This activity addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Practice-based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, and Systems-based Practice.
